Kiato is situated on the Gulf of Corinth, 3 km (2 mi) east of Xylokastro, 22 km (14 mi) north of Corinth, and 75 km (47 mi) west of Athens. It is connected with Athens and Corinth by the Athens-Corinth-Patras railway and by the Greek National Road 8. Pilos is a town and a municipality in Messenia, Peloponnese, Greece. It is the seat of the municipality of Pylos-Nestoras. The municipal unit has an area of 448.861 km2. Pilos is situated on the Ionian Sea, 25 km (16 mi) southwest of Kalamata and 120 km (75 mi) northwest of Sparta. It is connected with Kalamata and Sparta by the Kalamata-Pilos-Methoni highway and by the Greek National Road 9.
