The Nilgiri Mountain Railway (NMR) is a 1,000 mm (3 ft 3+3⁄8 in) narrow-gauge railway line in the Nilgiri Hills of Tamil Nadu, India. The line runs from Mettupalayam, at the foot of the Nilgiris, to Udagamandalam, on the plateau at the top of the hills. The NMR is one of the few mountain railways in the world that still uses steam locomotives.
