Lake Sakakawea is a large reservoir in North Dakota, United States. It is the third largest man-made reservoir in the United States by surface area, and the largest by volume. The lake was created by the construction of the Garrison Dam on the Missouri River. The dam was completed in 1953, and the lake began to fill in 1954. Lake Sakakawea is named after Sacagawea, a Native American woman who served as a guide and interpreter for the Lewis and Clark Expedition.
Richardton is a city in Stark County, North Dakota, United States. The population was 539 at the 2010 census. Richardton is located on the Missouri River, approximately 50 miles (80 km) northeast of Dickinson. The city was founded in 1883 by German immigrants.
