Sidirokastro is a town and a former municipality in the Serres regional unit, Greece. Since the 2011 local government reform it is part of the municipality Sintiki, of which it is the seat and a municipal unit. The municipal unit has an area of 428.076 km2. The town is situated in the northern part of the Serres plain, on the left bank of the Strymonas river, between the mountains Ovrintsi and Vrontous. It is 18 km northwest of Serres and 70 km northeast of Thessaloniki. Kilkis is a city in Central Macedonia, Greece. It is the capital of the Kilkis regional unit and the seat of the municipality of Kilkis. The city is located in the southern part of the Kilkis plain, on the left bank of the Axios river, between the mountains Paiko and Ossa. It is 32 km north of Thessaloniki and 100 km southwest of Serres.
